We're gonna disagree about this one brother. He had 16g and 16a as a third liner and Will be playing with greater players like Marty, Vinny, Teddy and Stamkos. I'm thinking 20g 20a while playing in the top 9. Just my 2 cents, but I really like having you writting here brother. Good article! |

I'm torn on the signing. It all depends which Pouliot we get. He did absolutely nothing in the first half of the season for Boston, but picked it up in the second half for them. He is a really streaky player and I think Steve Y is taking a gamble hoping for a little consistency. It's only a one year deal at price where if he plays well is a steal and if he doesn't it wasn't a huge investment. He should easily fit in our top 9. |

i think he was a fine signing. Hopefully he can deal with his inconsistencies and you have a 20g 20a player on the third line |

Pouliot was a very hard player to get a grip on, He has that natural ability to be a threat every time he's on the Ice we witnessed that last year, I actually thought he worked his ass off most of the time, and didn't have a long leash with Julien, He had some of the prettiest goals of the year and it didn't seem to matter in the end
I wish the kid good luck in TB I think the resigning of Seguin-Krejci-Lucic-Kelly-Marchand made him expendable in Boston |

I actually really liked the way he played for the Bruins. He was one of our better players in the playoffs. He definitely played hard when he was here and had some beautiful goals to boot. |

Michael Stuart: Benoit Pouliot was a Confusing Signing - Michael_Stuart
Pouliot (frank)ing sucks.
Can't stay on his skates, can't protect the puck and doesn't use his size.
He's not a smart player, can't play defense and doesn't use his linemates.
He's a one move wonder. He skates up and takes a shot or picks up a rebound.
That's how he scores. He's useless the rest of the time. |

Ahaha what lists? I think he's a talented kid with a lot of potential. This was a Pouliot blog. |

Totally agree with you. He can be a good third line player but very inconsistent. I also do not like his attitude. When he was arrested for being impaired while in Minnesota all he could say to the authorities is "Do you know who I am??" I drafted the bastard and have no use for him now. Just my opinion. |

What I really like is Corey Conacher coming to town. This guy is the next Marty St. Louis story wise and has a chance to be a very effective player. I can see Conacher fitting on the pp as early as this year. That is if there is a season |

I'm right with you. Bob McKenzie recently tweeted out that he believes Conacher would be the Calder Trophy winner if we had a season. That's absolutely huge. |

We can always use a forward with size on the third line, who is able to score some goals. I would agree with others that he doesn't use his size like he should and isn't full of piss and vinegar as our old coach would say, but I don't see too much downside risk with signing him. I agree Conacher is ready, JT Brown is not though, so I certainly think he has a place on the Bolts this season. |

Poulet had 16g and 16A for 32pts with +18. That would put him in the top six Lightning offensive leaders. The other five make a lot more money that 1.8M. He also had 5 game winners which was top three in Boston so you can argue he doesn't disappear at the end of the game. Efficient with shots at 15% shooting percentage. Three years prior are roughly the same with Montreal and Minn.
Most of all, these are all numbers at the NHL level so he's got second line talent playing a mix of lines throughout his career and seems to be able to play 74, 79 and 69 games which is fairly durable. The others you list have potential but may take some time to develop an NHL game.
Seems like a reasonable pickup who could provide a second line wingers minutes and help solidify V4's rotating winger issue.
If newbies step up and astonish maybe he's trade deadline fodder but definitely seems like a guy who can put up respectable numbers on a very crowded Boston team. With the Bolts, that could translate.
Worse case he provides excelent depth up front that we don't have given one of the top 5 go down(god forbid but Malone is somewhat prone to miss games).

Sorry for the spelling error, Benoit. I meant Pouliot. He's also from just outside Montreal so its in keeping with his future French Canadian Center. |

It's not a bad pick up at all.
Benoit never lived to expectations so because he is a big, strong, talented player the world expect him to be a dominant player out there.
Fact is that he is a consistent 12-18 goal scorer who adds depth to any organization. he's top a top 6 forward but if any team had 3 15 goal scorers on the 3rd line then that is a team with depth. |

I see this as a no lose move for the Bolts. Maybe he plays as frustrating as his scouting report suggests. Maybe a change of scenery helps. Maybe he turns into a consistent 10-15 goal scorer for us moving forward bouncing between lines. But I just can't find a reason to make this a "bad" move.
And I know you mentioned it but Teddy had a very similar if not the exact same scouting report when he left LA. Not saying that is the result of this move but I just can't find where this is a bad move. We gave up a 5th and a non prospect forward in Ouellet, so even if he sucks and is jettisoned after this year (assuming there is one) we gave up very little. |

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Tyler Johnson is very much in the running for the title "next Marty St. Louis". He's kicking ass and taking names right now! |
